You’re five miles into a trail run and the sun is setting. You’re walking to your car after a late dinner downtown. You’re on a job site and your hands are full.
In all three scenarios, you want a blade on you. And in all three, you don’t want anyone to know it’s there.
The Trail Goat is the smallest knife in our tactical lineup, built for concealed carry in situations where a larger blade is impractical. At roughly three inches of blade and six and a half inches overall, it tucks into a waistband, a pocket, or a pack strap and stays there until you need it.
A Blade That Works However You Need
The Trail Goat’s modified Wharncliffe blade runs its centerline straight through the handle. Pick it up in reverse grip, and the symmetry gives it the feel of a dagger: point-driven, fast, and direct.
Flip it into a forward grip, and it’s a different knife. The dropped Wharncliffe tip delivers precise straight cuts for breaking down a box, slicing through rope, or processing game on the trail. The taller blade height gives you more belly for real cutting work than a narrow, spike-style tactical blade can offer.
One blade, two grips, two distinct modes.
Dagger Feel Without the Legal Restrictions
The Trail Goat’s profile looks like a dagger. In reverse grip, it feels like one. The triangular silhouette and centerline mass distribution give it outstanding penetration in a compact package.
It’s single-edged, which avoids the legal restrictions that apply to double-edged daggers in many states. You get the dagger geometry without the legal headache.
Confidence to Defend and Cut With One Blade
At .125″ thick, the Trail Goat carries heavier blade stock than both the Wargoat and Battle Goat, which run at .110″. That extra thickness delivers a sturdier, more confidence-inspiring feel when a defensive blade has to pull double duty as a utility cutter.
The pronounced thumb ramp gives you the leverage to push the tip through hard material or control fine cuts. The deep finger choil keeps your hand clear of the edge, so you can choke up for precision work safely.

Holds an Edge, Hides in the Dark
The Trail Goat features a three-inch MagnaCut stainless steel blade with a low-visibility Cerakote finish in our established tactical colorways.
MagnaCut holds an edge through hard use, withstands sweat and rain, and resharpens easily in the field. The Cerakote finish eliminates reflections that could catch light when you draw the blade. The low-friction surface also means less drag on clothes during a fast draw.
Locks Into Your Grip, Light Enough to Forget
The handle wraps five and a half feet of 550 paracord into a lightweight, textured grip that locks into your hand through extended use. In reverse grip, the curved backside of the handle fills your palm for a natural, locked-in fist. In a forward grip, the thumb ramp and handle geometry give you a confident, driving cut with plenty of blade control.
The paracord is also an emergency resource. Unwrap it in a pinch for gear repairs, makeshift lanyards, or improvised utility on the trail.
Designed for Defense From the Ground Up
Every other paracord-wrapped knife in our catalog started as a hunting blade and got tactical colorways later. The Trail Goat is the first MKC knife we designed from day one as a concealed tactical blade with a paracord-wrapped handle as its native configuration.
That distinction matters. We built the blade geometry, grip ergonomics, and carry profile around the concealed defensive use case first, with trail and urban utility as natural secondaries.

Concealed Carry That Goes Everywhere
Each Trail Goat comes with a custom-molded MKC Kydex sheath and UltiClip for discreet, all-day concealed carry.
You can wear the sheath vertically or horizontally, tuck it into your waistband, or clip it to a pack, pocket, or belt. A built-in retention screw lets you dial in the tension you want, so the knife rides quietly until you need it and draws cleanly when you do.
The low-profile setup makes it easy to carry the Trail Goat on a job site, on a night out, or on a trail run without changing rigs.
Who the Trail Goat Is For
We built the Trail Goat for people who want a concealed tactical blade in situations where a full-sized knife draws attention or adds unnecessary weight. That covers trail runners and hikers who want protection on remote routes, and people who carry off-duty and want a discreet fixed blade for nights out.
It also covers anyone on a job site, at camp, or in the backcountry who needs a compact knife that handles real cutting tasks and tucks away clean.
During internal testing, knife fans gravitated toward it for different reasons. Some saw a hiking knife, some saw a self-defense blade, and some saw an ultralight camp utility knife. The Trail Goat covers all three.
Free Sharpening for Life and Beyond
MKC Generations® is our promise to restore your knife to its original, unmatched working condition.
We’ll clean, sharpen, repair, and even reshape your blades when necessary, as well as rewrap handles, all free of charge. While we perform all necessary sharpening and maintenance, our aim isn’t to make your knife look brand-new. The marks and wear tell the story of use, and we respect that.
The MKC Generations® promise follows the knife, not the original owner. Pass it down, and the warranty goes with it.
Small Knife, Big Capability
The Trail Goat is the most concealable fixed blade in our tactical lineup. It’s also the most versatile for its size.
Tuck it into your waistband on a trail run. Clip it inside your pack on a day hike. Carry it to work, downtown, or into the backcountry. It disappears until you need it, and it performs when you do.
